24 Hour Relay - Oasis PropertiesEach year, Oasis Properties teams up with MBS Video Productions to bring together the 'Team Carebearz' fundraising team. The first year the team participated was 2007, and 'Team Carebearz' raised a total of $7,012.08 winning the #10 Overall Fundraising spot.

In 2009 'Team Carebearz' reached new heights, along with its dedicated 50+ team members and raised a total of $15,512.19 making the team of 2009 the #1 Small Business Fundraising Team. 'Team Carebearz' placed as the #3 Overall Fundraising Team.

About the Easter Seals

The British Columbia Lions Society for Children with Disabilities has been registered as a charitable organization since 1952. You may also know us as the Easter Seal People. Under both names, our mandate is to support children with disabilities throughout British Columbia.

We are dedicated to enriching the lives of children through a renewed focus on "helping to give children abilities." We are committed to doing all we can to enhance the lives of children with special needs. Our vision for the future is to continue building, not only specialized services and facilities, but challenging young hearts and minds as well. Giving children with disabilities self-esteem, self-confidence and a sense of independence is what we are all about.

This level of commitment to children with disabilities and their families requires patience, determination, courage and of course, significant financial support. We rely heavily on our special events and appeals to meet our annual operating budget of $7.17 million (2007/2008). All funds raised stay in BC and fund the following programs and services:

Easter Seal Camps - Camp Shawnigan, Camp Winfield & Camp Squamish24 Hour Relay Team Carebearz
Easter Seal Houses - Victoria, Vancouver & Prince George
Easter Seal Bus Transportation - in communities all over BC
Patient Care Grants - for therapeutic equipment, and prosthetics
Bursaries & Scholarships - for students with disabilities

The Easter Seals 24 Hour Relay is an annual community based fundraising event that challenges groups of people to run or walk Relay-style for 24 hours. Teams of runners and/or walkers made up of Corporate and Recreational groups collect individual pledges or organize team fundraising events to raise funds towards their collective team totals.

The Easter Seals 24 Hour Relays For The Kids in Vancouver and Victoria are produced by the BC Lions Society for Children with Disabilities. In Kelowna, the 24 Hour Relay is produced in conjunction with the Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs. A portion of the Island Relay supports the Victoria Easter Seal House while half of the funds from the OKanagan Relay benefit the Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs programs and services. All money raised in BC stays in BC.
